In July 2019, Janet was hired by CBS News as a correspondent based in Houston. In her time at CBS News, Janet has reported on the mass shootings at the El Paso Walmart and Gilroy Garlic Festival and the California fires. Before joining NBC News, she was a stay-at-home mom to five children. Ahead of having a family, Janet worked as a reporter at WBBM-TV in Chicago, KHOU-TV and KPRC-TV, both in Houston, and WOOD-TV in Grand Rapids, Michigan.

In October 2016, Janet interviewed Arianne Zucker, the actress who Donald Trump made suggestive comments about in an Access Hollywood video recorded in 2005.
