Raimondo was born on May 17, 1971, in Smithfield, Rhode Island, United States. Raimondo is a childhood friend of U.S. Senator Jack Reed. Raimondo graduated from LaSalle Academy in Providence and was one of the first girls permitted to attend the Catholic school, from which she graduated as valedictorian.
However, he went on to Harvard College, graduating magna cum laude in 1993 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in economics.
