He is popularly known for his parts in the movies Mission: Impossible III (2006), Match Point (2005), Alexander (2004), Bend It Like Beckham (2002), Titus (1999), Velvet Goldmine (1998), Michael Collins (1996), and his television parts as Elvis Presley in the biographical miniseries Elvis (2005). He earned a Primetime Emmy Award nomination and won a Golden Globe Award as Elvis Presley.

Meyers earned two Golden Globe Award nominations for his role in the NBC drama series Dracula (2013–14) as the title character and as King Henry VIII in the historical drama The Tudors (2007–10). Also, Meyers portrayed Bishop Heahmund, a character inspired by the Catholic Saint of the same title, in the History Channel television series Viking.

Meyers’s family is Catholic, and his three younger brothers are skilled musicians. He went to North Monastery Christian Brothers School.

In 2013, Meyers was cast as Dracula in NBC’s television series Dracula alongside Jessica De Gouw Oliver and Jackson-Cohen.
