Willems began his career with amateur side Spartaan ’20 from whom he joined Sparta Rotterdam. During his time with Sparta he progressed through the club’s youth academy and made his senior debut on 16 January 2011, in a match against Go Ahead Eagles. He made 16 appearances in the Dutch second division.

PSV

On 31 August 2011, Willems joined PSV Eindhoven on a three-year contract. He received the number 43 jersey and made his PSV debut on 23 October in a match against Vitesse. Willems became the youngest Dutchman to play in a UEFA competition when he started against Hapoel Tel Aviv on 3 November in a UEFA Europa League group stage match. That same month, he was permanently promoted to the first team squad. In December, Willems was targeted for a move to Manchester United, with then United manager Sir Alex Ferguson looking for “the next Patrice Evra”. On 3 April 2012, Willems’ contract was upgraded and extended until 2016.

Willems scored his first professional – and PSV – goal on 22 April 2012 in a match against NEC. With this goal, he became the youngest goalscorer in the 2011–12 Eredivisie. He experienced a great amount of playing time in the 2011–12 season because full-back Erik Pieters was injured. Although being young and quite inexperienced, Willems quickly showed evidence of his raw talent, especially his technique and attacking traits. On 15 July 2015, Willems suffered a serious injury and missed the first half of the 2015–16 season.

On 17 July 2017, Willems joined Eintracht Frankfurt to replace Bastian Oczipka, who, in turn, joined Schalke 04. The transfer fee paid to PSV was reported as between €5 million and €9 million, depending on the source.

International career

In 2011, Willems won the 2011 UEFA European Under-17 Championship with the Netherlands under-17 team. While being selected for the under-19 squad, on 7 May 2012 Willems was named in the provisional list of 36 players for UEFA Euro 2012, one of nine uncapped players to be chosen by senior team manager Bert van Marwijk as part of the preliminary squad. He was still in the Oranje squad for Euro 2012 after Van Marwijk had made a first cut to 27 players on 15 May 2012. Willems also made the final cut into the 23-man squad, being given the number 15 shirt. He made his first unofficial appearance for the senior national team on 22 May 2012 in a friendly match against Bayern Munich.

On 26 May 2012, Willems made his first appearance with the senior Dutch side in a match against Bulgaria. At the Euro 2012, Willems made his first start for the Netherlands, against Denmark, becoming the youngest ever player to play at the Euros and the fourth-youngest player to play for the Netherlands, at 18 years and 71 days of age. The record was previously held by Belgian Enzo Scifo, at 18 years and 115 days. He featured in all the group stage games, however the Netherlands were eliminated from the tournament after losing all three group stage matches.

George Baker Career

In 1967 Bouwens joined band Soul Invention, a soul band that played covers of songs by Otis Redding and Sam and Dave. They changed their name to “The George Baker Selection”. The band consisted of Jan Hop, Jacobus Greuter, George Thé, and Jan Visser.

In 1970 they released their debut album Little Green Bag. Their debut single “Little Green Bag,” reached No. 16 on the Cash Box magazine chart and No. 21 on the Billboard Top 100 in the United States. The single sold over one million copies globally, and received a gold disc.

Their second single, “Dear Ann,” was such a success. At the time Baker worked at a lemonade factory but due to the sucess of their singles he resigned and became a full time musician. Hev also wrote songs for other musicians including BZN, The Shoes, Andy Star, and Next One.

Baker disbanded the band in 1978 due to the pressure, according to Baker “the pressure had become too much.” In 1985 Baker formed a new George Baker Selection which was active until 1989.They released twelve albums and several compilation albums.

In 1978 Baker, after disbanding the Selection, performed as a solo artist until 1985 when he formed a second batch of Selection. In 1989 he returned as a solo artist. In 2005, he released a remix of the song “Paloma Blanca” for the film Too Fat Too Furious. He has released nine albums as a solo artist.

Paloma Blanca was the band’s fifth album and was released in 1975. The single with the same name reached No. 1 on charts in several countries and sold more than seven million copies worldwide, making it one of the most successful Dutch singles ever.

Nigel de Jong and Omid Ebrahimi join Qatar’s Al Ahli SC

Updated: July 11, 2018 Doha: Qatar’ Al Ahli SC announced the signings of Netherlands international Nigel de Jong and Islamic Republic of Iran’s Omid Ebrahimi from 1. FSV Mainz 05 and Esteghlal FC respectively on Wednesday. The Amsterdam-born de Jong made his professional debut with Ajax Amsterdam, spending much of his youth there before moving up to the senior team in 2002. de Jong’s career then brought him around the globe as he then moved to Germany, playing for Hamburger SV for four years, and to Manchester City where he assisted the club to an FA Cup title in 2011 and the English Premier League 2011-12 crown, as well as the FA Community Shield in 2012. The 33-year-old struck a three-year-deal with Italy’s AC Milan in 2012 and then spent a short stint in the United States with LA Galaxy before transferring to Turkey’s Galatasaray SK in 2016 on a two-year contract. He is highly regarded back home after helping the Netherlands finish second in the 2010 FIFA World Cup, losing 1-0 to Spain and a third place finish at the next edition in Brazil. de Jong will be joined in the midfield by Ebrahimi, who has only previously played in IR Iran. He began in the second division league with FC Shahrdari Bandar Abbas, before making waves in the Iran Pro League with Sepahan SC in 2010 and Esteghlal FC in 2014, where he was named Midfielder of the Year in 2016 and 2017.
