He befriended Presley when he allowed document the soundtrack for Viva Las Vegas in 1964. He thereafter said, “Elvis and I were brought up the same humble way – picking cotton and looking at the south end of a north-bound mule.”

In May 1961, he left the Champs and was thereafter signed by Crest Records, an associate of American Music. His first solo release, “Turn Around, Look at Me”, a reasonable success, peaked at number 62 on the Hot 100 in 1961 but got number 7 on the Hot 100 in a 1968 Vogues cover. Campbell also created The Gee Cees with former bandmembers from the Champs, performing at the Crossbow Inn in Van Nuys.

The Gee Cees, too, released a single on Crest, the instrumental “Buzz Saw”, which did not chart. In 1962, Campbell signed with Capitol Records. After minor initial success with “Too Late to Worry, Too Blue to Cry”, his first single for the label, and “Kentucky Means Paradise”, released by the Green River Boys featuring Glen Campbell, a string of unsuccessful singles and albums followed. By 1963 his playing and singing were heard on 586 registered songs.[

She only became known and famous after her marriage and relationship with John Nettles. Speaking about her husband, Nettles is an author and actor from the United Kingdom. Nettles played Laertes in Tom Courtenay’s Hamlet in 1969 at the University Theatre for 69 Theatre Company in Manchester. From 1969 to 1970, he was in repertory at the Northcott Theatre in Exeter, and in the latter year had his first screen role in the film One More Time.

The following year he played Dr. Ian Mackenzie in the period drama A Family at War, a role he resumed until 1972. Following that he had small parts in many TV programs including Robin of Sherwood, Dickens of London, The Liver Birds, and an episode of Enemy at the Door called “Officers of the Law”, first broadcast in March 1978.

The latter was set in Guernsey during the German work of the Channel Islands in the Second World War and Nettles played a police detective ordered to work for the Germans, who are anguished over the conflict between his duty and collaborating with the enemy.

In 1981 he became a household name in the UK when Robert Banks Stewart cast him as States of Jersey Police officer Jim Bergerac in the crime drama Bergerac. The series ran for 87 episodes on BBC1 until 1991. Following the end of Bergerac, he did five seasons with the Royal Shakespeare Company, emerging in The Merry Wives of Windsor, Richard III, The Winter’s Tale, Julius Caesar, and The Devil is an Ass.

In 1992 he emerged in an episode of Boon, and in 1993 reprised the role of Jim Bergerac in a guest appearance in the spoof police comedy The Detectives.
