Montgomery played Andre Maddox on the ABC daytime soap opera General Hospital from 2015 to 2019. He is the grandson of guitarist Wes Montgomery.

Montgomery began his career in the mid-1990s with guest appearances on television shows such as Sister, Sister, and The Steve Harvey Show. He also had a recurring role on the sitcom Popular from 1999 to 2001. In 2001, he was cast as Ensign Travis Mayweather on Star Trek: Enterprise, which ran for four seasons. After Enterprise ended in 2005, Montgomery continued to act in television and film.

He has had guest appearances on shows such as House, CSI: Miami, and Criminal Minds.
