Turner was born in Hannah, South Carolin by his caring and devoted father, Karen Turner, and his mother, Joe Turner. He grew up together with his brother Matt Turner and his sister Carrie Turner. He grew up in the church and founded a gospel quartet called Thankful Hearts, where he sang bass, in addition to singing the bass and baritone parts in choirs.
Turner is married to Jennifer Ford. They met at Belmont University, where they both attended school at the time. Josh had proposed to Jennifer Ford at Nashville’s Percy Priest Lake in Nov 2002.
